Mr. Grandi noted that today the Office for Refugees does not have access to Ukrainian citizens detained in russia.

Even the agreement with the russian Red Cross does not provide such an opportunity. Its implementation is limited to the transfer of humanitarian aid to the temporary accommodation of deported Ukrainians in four regions of russia.

The High Commissioner asked me to provide the evidence and materials I had to use with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guttieres to put pressure on the government of the aggressor state to make UN institutions accessible to our citizens and to discuss their return in more detail.

The issues of protection of the rights of asylum seekers from other countries in Ukraine were discussed. Starting next week, it is planned to resume work on their registration in Ukraine. Mr Grandi thanked Ukraine for continuing to provide assistance and support to those in need, despite the war. It has been agreed with the High Commissioner that, within the framework of my mandate, I will exercise parliamentary oversight over the observance of the rights of foreigners during the registration of asylum seekers and facilitate their transfer to third countries.

Separately, they focused on certain violations of the rights of Ukrainian children who left unaccompanied by legal representatives, including the return from European countries to Ukraine. I have summarized the problematic issues that arise in this process, in particular in Poland, Germany and Italy, and developed recommendations for their solution.

During my visit to Italy, I plan to work out these nuances with the relevant authorities so that the rights of our children are respected.
The High Commissioner agreed to assist in the return of Ukrainian minors home and to promote the restoration of their rights abroad, and expressed his readiness to do everything in his power and authority to help Ukraine.
