Example 1:

Dear Mike,
It's been a while since we last spoke and I wanted to reach out and see how you're doing. How's work going? Have you had a chance to take a vacation yet this year?
I've been keeping busy with work and spending time with my family. We went to the beach last weekend and had a great time playing in the sand and swimming in the ocean.
Let me know how things are going for you, and let's plan to catch up soon.
