Mercuria is a major player in the Physical and Financial Global Commodity markets, with major trading centres in London, Geneva, Houston, Singapore, Shanghai and Beijing. We actively trade in all the major commodity asset classes, from Crude and Refined oil products, to power & gas, coal and emissions, through to freight, metals, and agricultural products.
We operate a global technology team, running an Agile delivery model in unison with our business partners to deliver multi- asset-class commodity systems, with a focus on automation, optimization, innovation and control.
The role
This is a great opportunity to join one of the largest integrated energy and commodity trading companies in the world.
We are looking for a Business Analyst to join our dynamic IT department working on global cross team initiatives and projects.
This role will require the individual to work in collaboration with your peers in IT, as well as closely with Departmental heads across the Mercuria business and their teams for business alignment.
You will ensure the portfolio of work is appropriately analyzed and understood, whilst also playing an active part in delivering on those requirements as part of the wider technology team.
You should have a detail focused approach, with a proven ability to communicate business requirements to IT, and a desire to identify and develop strategic solutions.
Key responsibilities:
* Creation of business requirements for the IT portfolio of work, including Change and Transformation Programs, as well as associated day to day operationally activities.
* Active member of a high functioning Agile delivery team
* Help drive delivery, whilst ensuring quality of low maintenance, high value solutions
* Ensure requirements are correctly interpreted and offer maximum business value
* Actively seek to identify and drive improvements and innovation across both the business & IT operating models
* Represent and promote Mercuria IT, both internally and externally
* Support firm wide initiatives & strategy where required

Key skills:
* Excellent documentation skills and experience of creating requirements in an Agile friendly manner such as user sto- ries
* Analytical and critical thinking with ability to problem solve complex issues
* Strong interpersonal skills – able to build relationships across the firm
* Excellent communication and influencing ability
* Stakeholder Management
