Malawi Vice President Dies in Plane Crash
The wreckage of a plane carrying Malawi Vice President Saulos Chilima and nine others has been found in a forest. There are no survivors, Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera said in a televised address to the nation.
The plane carrying Chilima disappeared from radar shortly after takeoff from the capital's airport the day before. The plane was en route to the northern city of Mzuzu.
The delegation led by 51-year-old Chilima, who had served as vice president since 2014, was flying to the funeral of a former official.
Less than a month ago, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi was killed in a plane crash.
