Days 2-14 – Look for a rental.
Day 14 (approx) – Receive the federal support payment of $6000 (for 2 adults)
Days 14-20 – If the rental search is not going well, focus more on rentals that are specifically making things easier for Ukrainian newcomers. Lower your standards about jobs if you don’t have one yet. Because of the support payment, you should now have enough money for a deposit and even a couple months of rent, if needed.
Notes
Most rentals require proof of employment (must wait until you have a job), deposit & last month’s rent (must wait until you have the federal support payment, unless you have enough savings)
Some rentals are allowing Ukrainian newcomers to rent on more favorable terms (i.e. some of these requirements are waived). These deals are valid, but of course are limited to certain apartments in certain areas. There is information in the Guides about several of these.
