main point: they are suggesting an approach of measuring dynamical independence of the information contained in the macroscopic variable (ie the possible emergent phenomenon, the result of interaction of the microscopic parts) with respect to the information contained in microscopic variables' interaction process (that is, if your knowledge of the microscopic process does not add anything new to the prediction of the macroscopic process, does not go beyond the extent to which the macroscopic process already self-predicts)
