Life long learning is our choice We've got you covered with 5 UI/UX podcasts

UI Breakfast
Every episode, the host Jane Portman interviews an expert on design, marketing, and many other areas intertwined with UX, in episodes no longer than 50 minutes.

Ramblings of a Designer

99% Invisible
The host of the 2010-founded podcast Roman Mars discovers the invisible design in places we rarely realize it is present; in architecture, sound, objects, and technology likewise.

Wireframe
Powered by Adobe with the host Khoi Vinh that discovers good design with its many aspects with guests in the studio.

ShopTalk
Hosted by Dave Rupert and Chris Coyier, ShopTalk is, in its very literal meaning, everything about websites and UX.

2022-07-06 10:30:39 We talked to the person responsible for supervising, managing, and motivating team members daily. Oleksandra Hvozdovska, team leader in our #codebridgeteam, told us about life hacks at work, how to cooperate with designers and clients, and the main features of her position.

Sasha, how would you describe to a three-year-old child what you do?

I think that UI/UX designers and genies have more in common than anyone can imagine. We can make your wish come true, but you need to be specific to receive exactly what you wished for. You want a new Iron man figurine – I can give it to you, but it can be 10 meters and made of steel. But if you told me, ‘I want an Iron man figurine – the one from Avengers – in his superhero costume, make him fun and easy to play with’ – I could work with it and deliver you exactly what you wanted! So UI/UX design is really about communicating with the client, expressing his wishes, and me, like a genie, making them come true! Also, the critical difference between me and a genie – I can grant a lot more than three wishes!

How do you solve complicated work issues? Can you share life hacks?

I always make sure that the client and I, as a designer, are on the same page – that way, we can minimize struggles along the way. If the work is real, keep your temper cold, analyze the problem, and look at the project like you have never seen it before. And I know that I’m not alone; I have my fellow designers and project managers who can come to the rescue at any time – this sense of unity makes my job this good. One of my hacks in work – is to be a couple of steps ahead and know my scope for the next three days/a week. That way, I can use my time efficiently and avoid miscommunication.

What is the main feature of the team leader?

Creating trustworthy relationships with your team members is the main thing that you can do as a team leader. It’s all about being there for your colleagues, being open to new ideas, and listening to what they have to say. I’m always excited when I can help somebody with a fresh pair of eyes and give some advice or a new perspective.

First, let's answer the question, "What does an onboarding screen do?". The main goals of the onboarding screens are to present to the user the product's most essential functions/aspects. But despite their simplicity, they are not always well designed.

So we would like to show you the optimal process for creating these screens:

The visual aspects: many users are visual learners, so add an optical element such as illustrations or photos that relate to the content to reinforce your message.

Add short & catchy titles that partially explain the functions shown on the screen.

A succinct description: the title alone is not always enough. People who are unfamiliar with technology may need additional information. Therefore, add a few-line description.

Add an indicator of the number of slides included in the process. This way, the user will know how many sliders are available and how many are left to complete the process.

Action buttons to create an account or login from the onboarding screen save the user from extra clicks.

2022-06-22 11:08:15 UI/UX designers are about taste, harmony in creativity and practicality, and a perfect match in beauty and usability. But the most important in this profession is how the creative process leads to the result. Today we publish an interview with Ananga Thapaliya, who described his point of view on all these constituents of the design profession #codebridgeteam

Ananga, tell us please about the projects you're most proud of and why. What was your role?

The project I am most proud of is the application we created to uplift the life of Alzheimer's patients. It was about adapting the product experiences to different audiences based on their needs and devices (feature personalization, responsive design, accessibility), mainly focusing on Alzheimer's Patients by carrying out moderated and unmoderated usability studies. My role was Lead UX Designer.

What's your creative process?

The typical design thinking process. Creativity lies in how you take the feedback and can implement that feedback into the design. Similar was the case with a medical project with Alzheimer's patients; the interview we did was very tricky because I was interviewing Alzheimer's patients over 60 and 70 years old, where you need to be careful about what & how to talk.

Who would it be if you had the opportunity to talk to a famous designer?

Not sure if this guy is famous, his name is Tobias van Schneider. I like his design, the way he thinks about designers, and his product.
