We will be listening to the story of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle and discussing the foods he ate. In addition, we will explore the lifecycle of a butterfly and have a go at drawing a butterfly. If possible, please have a pencil and paper for this session.

I saw a need for city children to reconnect with nature and our Westgarth Community Kindergarten was the first in Australia to establish a Bush Kindergarten. Each week I look forward to spending time with my students in the nearby bushlands, walking along the river, scrambling up banks, and negotiating the river crossings. One of my jobs is to write about the children’s learning and development within their bush classroom and I am currently contributing to a book
Join us to share the bush classroom and take a look at some local Australian animals.
I will tell the story behind the abandoned bee hive and include some photos of the local wildlife. I have the actual beehive on loan from the local rangers. I plan to light a candle as a cue and will end the session with a relevant story, song, or poetry.
